Prayer Service September 26, 2015

Daily Prayer Service.
This post is LONG, a little over three pages in LibreOffice. For those that want to pray this, it comes with Daily Bible readings so you can read the Bible in a year.
I will try to do the best I can to post this daily if more people want this. I am doing this for me, to help me talk to God more.
Also, it mentions my Mom, Linda Henry, and my sisters Dianna and Regina. If you have lost someone close recently or you have others that have health issues just insert their name. If you haven't, you can just delete that section. Also, there is a section for you to insert prayers for other people and places.
Thanks to Bro. Kenneth W. Collins and his Prayer Builder on his website at www.kencollins.com.

Opening Prayer

O God, my resurrection & life, the promise of your new life in Christ is like a breath of fresh air in a dry & thirsty land. Guide our prayers this hour and speak to me as whole person today. May your truth touch not just my intellects, but also my deeper yearnings of heart & soul. I bring with me my daily concerns, as well as my more eternal questions. May your new creation in me shed light upon my everyday walk. Feed me now with the abundance of what you freely offer, that I might overflow with your goodness. All this I pray in the name of, & because of, Jesus my Christ. Amen.1

The Prayer of Confession

Dear Heavenly Father, I lower my head before you and confess that too often I forgotten that I am yours. Sometimes I carry on my life as if there was no God and I fall short of being a credible witness to You. For these things I ask your forgiveness and I also ask for your strength. Give me a clear mind and an open heart so I may witness to You in this world. Remind me to be who You would have me to be regardless of what I am doing or who I am with. Hold me to You and build my relationship with You and with those You have given me on earth. AMEN.2

Words of Reassurance
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment [clothes]? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment [clothes]? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. - Matthew 6:25-34

The Nicene Creed

I believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through Him all things were made. For us and for our salvation He came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit He became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man.

For my sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered death and was buried. On the third day He rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father. with the Father and the Son He is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. I believe in one holy universal and apostolic Church. I acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.

AMEN.

Scripture Readings

Bible in a year readings: Genesis 7-9, Matthew 3

Prayers

Father, You grow and stretch my maturity through circumstances that don’t always reflect my choosing. It helps me to gain needed perspective and experience in situations not of my own choosing, but to my overall benefit. Help me to be patient as I search Your Scripture and seek to understand Your plan as it unfolds in my life. Align my desire with Your own as I submit my will to Yours. May I not be overcome by adversity but ask You, Father, to use adversity as a tool by which You carve Your image and character deep into my heart. I may make my plan but I realize that, as Your child, You will have the final say.3

Lord, at the moment nothing seems to be able to help the loss I feel. My heart is broken and my spirit mourns. All I know is that Your grace is sufficient. This day, this hour, moment by moment I choose to lean on You, for when I am at my weakest Your strength is strongest. I pour out my grief to You And praise You that on one glorious day when all suffering is extinguished and love has conquered we shall walk together again. 4

O merciful Father, who has taught me in Your holy Word that You do not willingly afflict or grieve your people: Look with pity upon the sorrows of your servant for whom my prayers are offered. Remember me, O Lord, in mercy, nourish my soul with patience, comfort me with a sense of Your goodness, lift up Your countenance upon me, and give me peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord..5

All praise to the God and Father of my Master, Jesus the Messiah! Father of all mercy! God of all healing counsel! He comes alongside me when I go through hard times, and before you know it, he brings me alongside someone else who is going through hard times so that I can be there for that person just as God was there for me. I have plenty of hard times that come from following the Messiah, but no more so than the good times of his healing comfort—I get a full measure of that, too. 6

Comfort me with Your love O God Wrap me up in Your strong embrace shelter me from the storm O Lord envelop me in Your tender care. By day I pour out my heartbreak to You. By night I give you my racing thoughts.

In You I take refuge. In You I will not be afraid. For you hold me strong, You hold me safe. Calm my fearful heart O God. Still my anxious mind O Lord. For all my life is found in You. All my being is given to You. All my hope begins in You 7

Pray thanksgivings and petitions for yourself and others.

Lord, forgive Dianna, Regina, and I of any sins that we may have committed. Recognize us as lambs of your fold and as sheep of your flock. Send us holy angels to protect us from all spiritual harm, to guide and direct us, to console and comfort us. Defend us. In Your good time, raise us up to healthy bodies and sound minds to serve the rest of our days in your service and to your glory.

Lord, I thank you that in your providence and grace, you allowed Linda Henry, my Mom, to be part of my life. I loved her with all my soul. Please forgive any sins she may have committed against you, and keep her safe in the paradise that you have prepared for those who love you. Let her stand in the Resurrection of the Just on the last day and live with you in your glory forever more.

<INSERT PERSONAL PRAYERS FOR OTHERS HERE>

Look with pity upon my sorrows, comfort me with your goodness, and give me peace in my mourning. Grant me also grace and strength to live in accordance with my profession of faith, so that I may also dwell with you and my Mom Linda Henry in your glory. To you I give all honor, praise, glory, and thanks, O Lord, for you are the giver of life and conqueror of death.

I do not ask these things on my own authority, for before you I have none, but in the name of your only begotten Son Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you in your glory, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, as one God, now and forever, AMEN.

Conclude with the Lord’s Prayer:

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. AMEN

The Collect

Lord Jesus, stay with me, for evening is at hand and the day is past. Be my companion in the way, that I may know you as you are revealed in Scripture and in the breaking of bread. Grant this for the sake of your love. AMEN.
